How do I weight my data?
I'm using an available data set with two weight variables: basewgt and finalwgt.
Basewgt corrects for unequal probabilities and has values in the thousands: 2731.33, 1736.13
Finalwgt is the final postrification weight. It aligns to reference populations: gender, age, education, and census region. It has values like: .419, 1.64, 2.51
I'm given the additional information:
batch - batch from which respondent was recruited that targets national representative or specific subsets like the Chicago region and California (there are only 20).
sampletype - sampling frame from which respondent was recruited that is address based (three categories)
I have no clue what to do here. I'm trying to recreate the numbers in a report already published using the data but I can't. They're off by about 1.5%.
Any help would be appreciated.
