Trying to match subjects based on two variables

Hi. I am using Stata 13.1 and relatively new to Stata. I have a dataset which will be used to find three matched controls for each case. This is not a matched case-control design, but in order to perform a diagnostic assay analysis, we are trying to match the subjects based on specific covariates. To elaborate, The dataset is for neonates who were enrolled in a study to examine sepsis biomarkers. For each case, I would like to
1) Find all the controls whose birth weight is +- 500 grams of the case and also belong to the same age category (5 total categories)
2) Among all the identified controls (anticipate 5-10 controls per case), randomly select 3 controls to be matched with the case for the laboratory analysis.

I would greatly appreciate any advice on how to perform this analysis.

Thanks so much!
Azadeh
