Oceania Stata User Group Meeting – Sydney 29-30 September 2016, University of Sydney

CALL FOR PAPERS

The 2016 Oceania Stata User Group Meeting will be held at the University of Sydney, Abercrombie Building from 29 – 30 September 2016. This year the focus of the meeting is “Building bridges” to connect researchers of different disciplines, to share ideas across the different research fields. We are seeking papers that:
1. Demonstrate features of Stata that are not commonly known or applied
2. Describe the innovative use of Stata in particular case studies
3. Introduce new User-Written-Commands
4. Demonstrate the role of Mata
5. Demonstrate new features of Stata that were introduced in Stata 14
6. Apply the use of Stata in practical research

As this is a cross research Stata User Group Meeting, presenters from all fields would be welcomed, however, we would particularly like to see speakers from Universities, Research Institutes, Government organisations, not-for-profits and commercial enterprises.

Fields that we would like to see represented are:
1. Economics
2. Finance, banking and accounting
3. Health / Medicine
4. Epidemiology / Biostatistics
5. Sociology
6. Geography
7. Social sciences
8. Mathematics / Statistics
9. Other (if your field is not here and you would still like to submit a paper, please do so).

If you have an idea about a topic that you think would be of interest to Stata users or have a paper that you would like to present, please visit www.sugm.net.au to register your abstract.

Submission guidelines:
Papers to be submitted should include an abstract of no more than 200 words (ASCII text, no math symbols) along with your name, position, organisation and field. All abstracts must be received by 31 May 2016. Please include a short, informative title, and indicate whether you wish to be considered for a short (25-minute) or key-note (40-minute) presentation. In addition, if your presentation has multiple authors, please identify the presenter. Submissions are made via the Oceania Stata User Group Meeting website: http://www.sugm.net.au/speakers.html

Scientific Committee:
This year our Scientific Committee comprises Ben Goldsmith of the University of Sydney, Demetris Christodoulou of the University of Sydney and Rob Herbert of Neuroscience Research Australia.

Presentation Guidelines:

Each user presentation should be up to 25 minutes long and should be followed by 5 minutes for questions. We would also like to see 2 – 3 key-note presentations of approximately 40 minutes. Presentations longer than 40 minutes will be considered at the discretion of the Scientific Committee.
