Dear Stata Forum
I hope someone can advise me of the error of my ways? I am trying to verify the study weight output of metan when calculated by hand. This is for a continuous variable, a comparison of means, n1, mean1, sd1,n2, mean2, sd2. I am seeking the formula used by Stata when calculating the the study weight (%) using Cohen's d with fixed-effect.
I can find, surprisingly to me, a number of different formulae (1/(se)^2, 1/(sd)^2, ..) that are on the web but none give me the same numbers as the output from metan.
Forgive me if it is a basic question, but I feel rather confused.
